ROY SHAPIRO
Shapiro's latest piece “Reflected Time” beautifully demonstrates his ability to create dramatic still lifes, filled with narrative and intrigue. His choice of objects brings colour and composition together, building a scene filled with subtle details. Shapiro indulges in the different textures of his materials, the copper pot has a delicious shine to it, whilst the folds of the material sink weight into the bottom of the image. The delicate shadow across the back wall gives a hint of dimensionality whilst dialling up the drama. Like all his pieces, his strong sense of individuality comes through in this work, with a charismatic and almost peculiar take on the still life.
